DISTRICT IN GENERAL:

 

        The District Sirsa which was the part of Hisar Distt. has been converted as District Sirsa w.e.f. 26.09.1975.  It is located in the western part of Haryana.  It is bounded by the State of Punjab in the north and east, state of Rajasthan in the south and west by the District Hisar.  The total area of District is 4276 Sq. K.M. having the total population 11,11,000 as per 2001 census.  Sirsa city is away from the Delhi about 250 K.M. on the National High way No.10.

        The climate of the district is extreme and aride.   It is very hot in summer and cold in winter. The rainfall in the district is uncertain and scanty.  The Ghaghar is the only river which has abundant water during the rainy season, out of total area about 90% area is under cultivation, District Sirsa is known as “the cotton belt of Haryana”.

 

 

INDUSTRIES AND INDUSTRIAL ESTATE STATUS:

 

INDUSTRIES:

 

            There are many type of industries in the district which are engaged in the manufacturing of various items such as Seed Processing, Wrapping Papers, Milk Chilling, Rice Shelling, Chemicals, Iron and Steel Fabrication, Agriculture Implements, Leather Good, Hard and Straw Board etc.        

            The main resource of the district is agro products.  The more details about the existing industries which are registered with the District Industries Centre, Sirsa (Industries Department) are given as under (working units upto 31.3.2003):-

EXPORTING UNITS:

 

            In the district, there are two exporting units namely HSF Food Pro. Tech Pvt. Ltd. Sirsa and Namdhari Rice and General Mills, Village Jiwan Nagar (Rania).  They export their products i.e. Paddy Parboiling and Drier Plants and Sella Rice to the Countries namely Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

 

PRIME MINISTER ROJGAR YOUZNA(Implemented through DIC):

 

            Prime Minister Rozgar Youjana is Centrally sponsored scheme and implemented on 2nd October,1993.  In this scheme employment has been provided to the educated unemployed youth to set up there venture to gain self employment.  Under the PMRY  scheme @ 15% subsidy of the project cost per applicant with maximum limit of Rs.7500/- is provided to the applicant.  The 5% of the unit cost will be born by the applicant and rest 95% of the unit cost will be bank loan.  Rate of interest will be charged as per R.B.I. guidelines.  The stress is given in the scheme for SCs, BCs, STs and women.

 

INDUSTRIAL ESTATE / INFRASTRUCTURE:

 

INTEGRATED INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT CENTRE(IIDC) 

 

       IIDC is centrally sponsored scheme for development of tiny and SSI units in most backward area of the country.  The HSIDC has authorised for development of this scheme as project work for setting up of units in this area.  All the infrastructure facilities have been developed by the HSIDC upto now.  The following category of plots have been carved out for setting of units:-

        The rate of the plot Rs.600/- per Sq.Yard has been fixed by the HSIDC for allotment of the above said plots.  About 20 plots have been allotted to the various entrepreneurs.  HSIDC also provide the 20% rebate on the rate of plots to the entrepreneurs if they run their units on the stipulated period as per norm of HSIDC.

 

UDYOG KUNJ AT BHAUDIN:

       

        Udyog Kunj at Village Bhaudin is situated on the National Highway No.10 away from the Sirsa City about 15 KM.  The above said Udyog Kunj has been developed by the HSIDC.  The land has been offered free of cost by the Gram Panchayat.  There are 10 Nos. of plots of sheds have been constructed and 29 Nos. of plots 100 & 166 Sq. Yards are open plots.  All the resident of Haryana are eligible to participate in the scheme.  HSIDC is the nodal agency to implement this scheme.  The State Government has decided to give incentive to the units coming up in the Udyog Kunj as applicable under the rural industrialization programme.

 

 

INDUSTRIAL ESTATE HUDA:

 

        The industrial estates/areas are developed by the Haryana Urban Development Authority at Sirsa, Dabwali and Kalanwali.  The table below shows the progress about the areas:-

FOOD PARK:

 

 

        A Food Park is being set up at the land of villages i.e. Teja Khera, Asha Khera and Chautala on the Dabwali-Sangria road.  The total are of this land is about 113 acres.  This Food Park is also developed by the HSIDC to set up the food processing units.    

 

SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES RENEWAL FUND SOCIETY OF HARYANA (SMERFH):

 

 

 

        SMERFH is a society which is registered under Society Registration Act.  The aim of society is to built up competitive strength technology upgradation and quality improvement to enhance competitiveness of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs to withstand emerging pressure and ensure sustained growth and enable them to complete globally.  This scheme is adopted w.e.f. 15.11.1999 by the State Government in pursuance of Industrial Policy, 1999.  To improve the SME sector following package of incentives shall be provided under SMERFH i.e. to acquire ISO-9000 certification, reimbursement of training expenses & duty charges testing equipment subsidy, interest subsidy under modernization programme etc.  Efforts are being made to get benefited in this scheme.
